“On the front end, we still have all of our clients call in and get to talk to a gemologist one-on-one, to really understand their preferences, price points, what they’re looking to aim for,” Olivia shares. “So we have that human touch, but then are able to scale that experience through handpicking each and every diamond, curating that for each client, but being able to assign it to multiple clients with similar preferences.”

On the backend, GEM is a game-changer. With a powerful inventory tracker connected via API to GIA’s gemological lab, human error is virtually eliminated. “Everything gets uploaded very easily. It’s very easy to scale and track all the inventory for all of our vendors. Each piece has a QR code that goes through the process…. We have worked hard, done everything the most unscalable way and most antiquated way to understand the pain points, to create this tech,” Olivia explains. In short, GEM allows The Clear Cut to deliver the exclusivity and precision of a traditional jewelry experience, but on a global scale.

This storytelling potential is transformative, as Olivia explains, “I think that's going to be a huge part of the future of natural diamonds - being able to trace from the source to the finger… It’s going to be a huge push in the industry and add a level of transparency and storytelling. It’s like a fourth ‘C’ in diamond shopping - Carat, Cut, Color, Clarity, now it is going to be Countries as well.”

With blockchain, The Clear Cut is not only ensuring ethical sourcing but also giving clients a deeper connection to the story behind their stones, a feature that’s resonating strongly with today’s conscious consumer.

As a fourth-generation jeweler with experience at Tiffany & Co., Olivia has learned that the essence of jewelry buying is about trust and connection. While she has brought innovation to The Clear Cut’s approach, she emphasizes the importance of honoring tradition with elements like in-person appointments, handwritten notes for VIP clients, and celebratory gifts for major milestones. “It’s really important to us to extend that lifetime value of our customer beyond that one purchase.”

“Organic content creation is our number one way that we do social media…TikTok is a huge platform for us, (but) attribution is quite tough for us because we’re mostly doing content creation about education on diamonds, and people will follow us for months, years before they’re ready to make a purchase,” Olivia explains.

With content focused on demystifying diamonds and telling unique stories, The Clear Cut has built an engaged audience that sticks around long before they make a purchase. “For our engagement rings, we will ask everyone, and most of the time it’s social media or word of mouth, that’s basically where most people find out about us, how we’ll reach most of our audiences,” she adds.

Olivia also emphasized the importance of staying on top of social trends and adjusting to what the algorithm is favoring. This proactive approach keeps The Clear Cut’s content fresh and engaging, empowering the brand to continuously expand its reach and deepen its connection with a global audience, turning followers into future customers.
